Conference Extract

We all are born with basic immunity. However, microbes in the environment and within our body fight against new microbes and this strengthen our immune system. The gradual microbicidal use increased in communities around the world, gradually affected our natural immune system, however, due to advancement in medicine and technology has significantly increased humans lifespan.

Immunity as the function of certain cells, enzymes and immunomodulatory chemicals that fights with pathogens and prevent us from diseases. The excessive use of antibiotics and antiviral drugs also linked to auto-immune problems. Ancient knowledge of Ayurveda and the human body, diseases are classified as Nija and AganthuNija illness is caused by inside imbalance and can be prevented by understanding one’s natural tendencies. Aganthu is caused by an external factor, which may include various injuries, both physical and mental trauma, and lack of focused health, hygiene and eating practices within a particular community or people.

This concept of an epidemic in communities due to external factor is highlighted in the Charaka Samhita in second century AD. The author of Charaka mentions that microbe spread by humans, animals, air, water, and land. This is very relevant in the current COVID-19 situation.

The experts and speakers of this conference will highlight the understanding of Ayurveda and explain homeostasis and balanced metabolism along with the influence of mind and emotion on our immunity. The conference also explains Psychoneuroimmunology and its effect of the central nervous system. The learned speaker will explain the impact of immunity caused by excessive anger, craving, worry, sadness, and exertion.

As we all know that understanding of digestion, mind, and immunity helps in Ayurvedic system to develop natural remedies as our ability to enduring change can only be developed by maintaining a state of equilibrium in the body, mind and soul.
