CEANN COMHAIRLE H.E. Mr. Seán Ó Fearghaíl

‘I am pleased to again be associated with India Day and I look forward to the colourful festivities in Farmleigh. Our histories are very similar, and while we differ in population size, there have long been strong bonds of genuine friendship between our nations.

It is estimated that almost 20,000 Indian nationals live in Ireland, and as Ceann Comhairle, I will continue to work hard to strengthen the bonds of friendship between India and Ireland.  India Day is an excellent example of what can be achieved, showcasing the best of Indian culture, music, art and cuisine.  I commend the I Indian Ambassador and her officials for their ongoing work in promoting links between our two countries, and I pay particular tribute to my good friends in the Ireland India Council for all their work in preparing India Day, which I sure will be as enjoyable and memorable in 2018 as it has been in previous years.’
